The new EU tyre labels

More transparency for more safety

From 1 May 2021, the EU umplemented new tyre lable to help create transparency around tyre safety, performance and CO2 emissions. Driven by the EU's 2030 climate and energy policy, it encourages the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Your tyres significantly impact your fuel consumption and safety. By choosing the right tyres, you can optimise the following aspects right from the start:

1. fuel efficiency, i.e. lower emissions and costs
2. safety, i.e. grip levels
3. noise emissions, i.e. decibles

To help you make the best purchase decision, we've summarised the label symbols below.
Of course, you're also welcome to ask your Genesis Personal Assistant about tyre selection any time. We'll be more than happy to help you.

Reduce costs and emissions

If you'd like to achieve the best possible fuel efficiency, then look for this symbol and the corresponding classification. Class A tyres have low rolling resistance and therefore low fuel consumption. Class E tyres have the highest rolling resistance and the worst fuel efficiency.

Maximise your safety

Wet grip is indicated by this symbol which ranks the tyres' grip on wet surfaces – and therefore the braking distance. Select a class A tyre so that your braking distance is as short as possible. Class E tyres have the longest braking distance.

Minimise the noise

Every time you drive, your tyres will emit driving noises. These are audible to you as well as your environment. To enjoy driving without excessive noise, pay attention to this symbol. It indicates the tyres' noise in decibels as well as to what extent they meet the new EU noise limit. Again, a Class A tyre produces low noise emission, while a Class C tyre is the loudest.

Prepare for snow

This symbol shows which tyres have the best grip on snow. Tyres marked with a snowflake and icicle are particularly suitable for heavy snow and perform well even in harsh winter conditions.

Be ready for icy roads

If you are often confronted with icy surfaces, good ice grip is paramount. Thanks to the icicle symbol, you can easily identify and purchase Nordic winter tyres and remain as safe as possible on the road.
