22 February, 2022 - The 2022 GENESIS G80 is here, headlined by all-new Sport and Sport Line variants, with an upgraded Luxury Package, and additional standard safety and convenience features across the range.

The all-new 2.5T Sport Line variant teams G80’s 224kW, 422Nm turbocharged rear-wheel drive powertrain with Road Preview Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS), larger brakes with four-piston monobloc front calipers, exclusive Sports interior and exterior styling and 20-inch alloy wheels.

All-new 3.5T Sport variant pairs the 279kW, 530Nm twin-turbocharged all-wheel drive powertrain with rear-wheel steering (RWS), Active Road Noise Control (ANC-R) system, a new Sport+ drive mode, and launch control, in addition to all the Sport Line features.

2022 G80’s standard safety package is enhanced with the addition of an Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) system.

As part of the optional Luxury Package, G80 now features driver and front passenger ergo motion seats, and a wireless phone charger for rear occupants.

G80 2.5T receives new 19-inch alloy wheels, and there’s a handy second rear USB charging port as standard.

2022 G80’s substantial updates deliver an audacious, progressive, and distinctly Korean sports luxury experience in line with the acclaimed Genesis brand DNA.

EXTERIOR

Sports exterior styling

Sport and Sport Line variants adopt a more aggressive image that opens with a unique front bumper featuring enlarged lower intakes and air curtain inlets, and a dark chrome front grille, with matching dark chrome exterior highlights.

There are also 20-inch Sport five-spoke alloy wheels with a dark grey finish and G-Matrix pattern, which contrast nicely with the black-painted monobloc front calipers.

And, completing 2022 G80 Sport and Sport Line’s enhanced athleticism, are a redesigned rear bumper with side air vents and dual exhausts with Crest Grille-shaped finishers.

Exterior Colours

A choice of 13 exterior colours is offered to let each customer create their own unique G80.

Among these are 11 gloss finish colours, and two optional matte finish colours - Verbier White and Makalu Gray - which are exclusively available on vehicles with Sport Line/Sport and Luxury Package.

In addition, the classy Cavendish Red and Mallorca Blue are exclusively offered for Sport Line and Sport variants.

INTERIOR

Sports interior styling

Sports variants feature styling revisions throughout the cabin, including a three-spoke Sport steering wheel, sports seat quilting and Real Carbon trim.

In addition, the Luxury Package brings unique ‘V Stitch’ sport seat quilting.

There are eight upholstery choices in a selection of six colours, with three trims in open pore real wood or Real Carbon trim.

Dune Beige with Olive Ash trim is reserved for G80 Luxury package, while Sevilla Red Sport upholstery is exclusive to G80 Sport/Sport Line with Luxury Package.

SPORT VARIANT FEATURES (3.5T RWD)

Rear Wheel Steering (RWS)

The Rear Wheel Steering system (RWS) helps increase vehicle maneuverability and stability, using an electric motor to control the steering angle of the rear wheels, according to the steering angle of the front wheels and the speed of the vehicle.

When driving at low speed (below 60km/h), the rear wheels steer in the opposite direction to the front wheels, to reduce the turning circle from 11.62m to 10.90m.

At high speeds (above 60km/h), the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the front wheels, for increased stability when changing direction.

Sport+ drive mode

G80 3.5T Sport features an additional Sport+ drive mode that further increases engine responsiveness and steering and throttle sensitivity, and engages enhanced gearbox logic, as well as turning the traction control off.

It also calls on a Sport+ suspension setting, tightening up body control and minimising body roll to elevate dynamic engagement to the next level.

Active Road Noise Control (ANC-R)

G80 3.5T Sport variant is equipped with ANC-R noise-cancellation technology.

The system uses an acceleration sensor to monitor road vibrations, which are rapidly analysed (in as little as 0.002sec) by the RANC controller.

The unit then uses a Digital Signal Processor to generate a noise-cancelling inverted soundwave, to deliver the superb luxury of a near-silent interior.

NEW STANDARD FEATURES

New 19-inch alloy wheels for 2.5T RWD

2022 G80 2.5T RWD features an all-new wheel design. Five-spoke 19-inch wheels in a hyper silver finish replace the previous dish-type wheels.

Intelligent speed limit assist (ISLA)

The addition of an Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) system bolsters an already extensive safety suite in G80. This advanced feature can aid the driver by informing them of the current speed limit based on a combination of road sign recognition (using the windscreen-mounted camera) and navigation data.

The system can also assist the driver to change the set speed in Smart Cruise Control (SCC) or Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA) to help the vehicle stay within the speed limit.

NEW LUXURY PACKAGE FEATURES

Driver & front passenger ergo motion seats

An Ergo Motion function for both front seats features for 2022 G80 Luxury Package. It utilises seven air cells inside the seat to treat front occupants to a relaxing, comfortable ride while also offering exemplary posture support.

The seats also offer some enhanced functionality, such as a Posture Assist function which, after an hour of driving, automatically adjusts the pelvis and lumbar portion of the air cells to improve the occupant’s posture.

In addition, a Smart Support function enlarges the side bolsters automatically in Sport mode and when driving at higher speeds.

Second-row wireless charging

The Luxury Package now includes a second-row wireless charger integrated into the centre armrest control console, to ensure passengers in the rear can effortlessly charge their Qi compatible smartphone.
